Flintwood’s participants hear about us from a range of sources. We love it when our services are recommended by participants who have enjoyed spending time with us, or been cared for or housed by our team. Our referrals also come from case workers, other families, social workers, schools and many other places and people. Flintwood welcome participants and families from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) backgrounds.
Flintwood is an all-inclusive organisation in terms of gender equality, sexuality, race, creed, family and social status.
We provide programs for people with varying support needs from mild to exceptional. Participants may have an intellectual disability, acquired brain injury, mental illness, physical and or sensory disability.
We have the capability and experience to assist participants needing help in the following areas, but please ask if what you need isn’t on the list below. Much of our service centres around adapting and creating services and caring protocols to suit our participants, not the other way around. It’s very likely we can create a service that suits your needs.
We can most definitely help you if you require:
But the best way to find out if our services can help your or be tailored to suit you is by calling us on 9630 1777. Our compassionate team are trained in all aspects of health and behavioural support care for the individual needs of every participant who comes under Flintwood’s care.
Flintwood’s core business is to provide the necessary supports to adults with disabilities and enhance their lives in whatever way possible. We are guided by the needs, dreams and suggestions of each and every Participant at all levels in the organisation.
Some of the things that are meaningful to our Participant are:
“I am happy when I come to Flintwood. I love the opportunities to go out in the community, exercising in the fresh air to help me keep fit. I like to learn new things and I really like listening to other people and telling my own stories. I enjoy the fact that I choose all of my own activities and I am happy with the decisions I make. I love our new building with lots of space.”
“I like the TTW program because it gives me opportunities to get a job in the future. I enjoy the reading and writing program because it helps me stay focused on my goals. I love dancing and planning our yearly performance. I feel involved and respected when staff listen to all of my ideas. I enjoy the paper round program because I feel part of the community and my long term goal is to catch a bus independently from home to the TTW program.”
“When I come to Flintwood I like to help and keep things organised and support people by talking to them and being social. I enjoy the computer to look up my favourite hobbies including the Navy and Australian Army. I love all sports but especially soccer and football with my favourite team being Manly Sea Eagles. I love our new building at Castle Hill and that it is so big I get to speak with heaps of people everyday.”
“I enjoy the different things we do. I enjoy how we all sit down and discuss what we will do for the week because I feel like I am able to make all my own decisions about my activities.”
“The group I am in I love. I love all the opportunities with TTW program and the lead role in helping the group.”
“I like the group and the different places we go to”
