Board of Directors

The board of directors is made up of nine voluntary members, including: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Officer and three additional members. These members bring to the board a diverse range of skills and represent direct stakeholders (Participants) and non-direct stakeholder (community).

 

The board of directors has a strategic role and makes major decisions on policy, long-term goals, legal matters and finance, maintaining the vision of providing a flexible service that enhances the opportunities of people with disabilities, enabling them have a varied and fulfilling life within the community.

 

Day to day decision making is delegated to the Management Team.

Current Position: Chairman

Russell has 40 years’ experience in the Electronics/ IT/Telecommunication industry with the last 12 years working in senior roles on local and international projects. Russell is currently contracting part time in IT industry and brings to the board skills in people management, complex problem solving, negotiating and meeting project deadlines. Russell has a passion for ensuring quality service delivery for people with disabilities.

Sharon Foord

Sharon Foord

 

Current Position: Vice Chairman

Sharon has spent 30 years in local government in management positions. She has a strong customer service background and is studying marketing and disability. She is interested in helping others, people management, and running projects with great results. Sharon is passionate about working with the CEO and Board Members to ensure Flintwood Disabilities continues to provide the right services to people with disabilities and to create an environment of innovation.

Gordon McLean

Position: Director

Years on Board: 20+ years

 

Background: Worked in the banking industry for 41 years as a Senior Branch Manager, International banking, Regional Business Development Manager.

Interests: Long background in Finance and general financial skills associated with both banking and business.

Reward: Enjoying seeing the Flintwood Disabilities organisation grow and prosper by delivering first class facilities and programs to all Participants. Friendships established with both staff and Management Board members

Sigrid Rottman

Current Position:   Director

Sigrid is a  Qualified Secretary (3 Years Business School in Germany), Associate Diploma in Business Accounting). Sigrid has enjoyed being able to contribute to see Flintwood Disability Services Inc. grow, expand and provide programs and services of excellence to all our service users and creating a high profile in the Disability Industry.

Ray Engelbrecht

Ray Engelbrecht

 

Current Position: Director

Ray has accrued professional experience over 35 years in areas of professional expertise including business management, project management, and land development management having acted in roles such as engineering consultancy office manager, state manager, and project manager. Ray’s passions include motorcycle touring, target shooting of feral animal control, and camping. By being on the Board , Ray is  able to assist Flintwood Disabilities Services to provide an ever improving quality of services to all our Participants and families.

Russell Martin

Current Position: Director

Russell is a local Resident in the Hills district and is married with 2 children, and is a pre-paid Funeral Consultant for Guardian, Simplicity and Ann Wilson Funerals. Russell is an active member in his local church, enjoys motorbike riding, movies and family. Russell is passionate about being part of a group that is interested in the lives of family members with a disability and to make a positive difference in their lives.

May Lee-Fong

 

Current Position: Director

May has 48 years involvement in educational environments,  23 years in high school teaching and 25 years in higher education administration and marketing and is currently participating in teaching health and lifestyle change. May is interested in serving the community via hospital activities, acquiring knowledge and strategies in healthcare management and photography. May is passionate about the provision of high quality services to people with disabilities. Following the progress and self-independence of the Participants.

Brian Conway

Current Position: Director

Brian has been a teacher of students who are blind or have vision impairment for over 35 years. He has been a teacher of students with multiple disabilities, and of students who are blind without additional disabilities.  He has also been an administrator of schools and programmes for students with sensory impairments. Brian is a past President of an international organisation responsible for developing standards for producing print materials in accessible formats. He has a significant interest in matters relating to blindness and vision impairment, print disability issues and has made substantial contributions to the development of quality services for young people and adults with disabilities over many years.

Helana Laves

Current Position: Director

 

Helena started her career in accounting. Together with her husband Phillip, they went into small business which ran for over 25 years until 2008. She then decided to start a new career in community services. Helena have a diploma in Community Services and Case Management and currently works at Hills Community Care.  Helena has a strong commitment to helping older people and younger people with disability to help them stay involved and maintain links with the community.

Sharon Smith

 

Current Position: Director

 

Sharon started her career in nursing where she worked looking after people with acquired brain injuries and diseases. She then started an accounting business with her husband where she worked in an administrative role. During that time she was a founding member of ACDNSW (Association for Children with a Disability NSW). Recently she has returned to nursing, her first passion. Sharon is committed to compassionate quality service deliverance that promotes independence and inclusion so people with a disability can lead happy, fulfilling lives.
